We all know about “Iowa nice,” but what do we really mean by that. Are Iowans kinder than anyone else, are we just polite, just afraid of conflict? Have we lived up to this claim of niceness historically, do we live up to it now? What behavior does “Iowa nice” call us to in our personal lives, as a community?
